Jeonnam-do, fostering global port logistics talent

Expectations to prevent outflow to and from the provinces, stabilize the supply and demand of manpower, and create youth jobs

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Hak-Soo Lee = Jeollanam-do is promoting the “Global Logistics Talent Training Project” for students majoring in port logistics at Sunchon National University and Korea Port Logistics High School in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do.

The “Global Logistics Talent Training Project” is a project promoted by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and Jeollanam-do in cooperation with Sunchon National University and Korea Port Logistics High School to foster excellent talent for regional port logistics.

It provides support for employment in the port logistics industry in the province, prevention of outflow of human resources, and the supply and demand of personnel for companies, and project expenses of 265 million won, including government and capital, are invested.

Through the project, Sunchon National University supports special lectures for logistics experts in preparation for employment, field trips, job camps, and acquisition of logistics manager licenses.

The Korea Port Logistics High School offers personality camps, special lectures in preparation for hiring national competency standards, and training for obtaining certifications. Upon graduation, comprehensive support is provided for employment in a port logistics company.

Jeonnam-do started its business in 2015 and employed 344 graduates who obtained professional licenses in the port logistics industry. They are working as key human resources for port logistics operations such as Yeosu Gwangyang Port.

In addition, the “Port Logistics Academy” will be held twice in Yeosu and Gwangyang areas from April to the end of the year to foster general citizens as port logistics experts.
